Colliers have sold Kingfisher Bay Resort owned by the Kingfisher Bay Resort Group which consists of four distinct tourism operations on Fraser Island – Kingfisher Bay Resort, Eurong Beach Resort, Fraser Explorer Tours, and Fraser Island Ferries.
Fraser Island is located less than 15km off the Queensland coast, stretches 123km in length making it the world’s largest sand island. Fraser Island’s World Heritage listing ranks it with Australia’s Uluru, Kakadu and the Great Barrier Reef. It is an important part of Australia’s natural and cultural heritage and is a place of incomparable beauty, with long white beaches flanked by the famous coloured sands cliffs and over 100 freshwater lakes. Ancient rainforests grow in sand along the banks of fast flowing freshwater creeks.
Two resorts are located on opposite sides of the island with Kingfisher Bay Resort overlooking the protected Great Sandy Straits whilst Eurong Beach Resort faces east with views over the Pacific Ocean. These two resorts account for over 90% of commercial accommodation options on Fraser Island and hold a substantial portion of available developable freehold land. There can never be a substantial accommodation competitor on Fraser Island.
To enhance the accommodation business Fraser Explorer Tours provides a range of island tours for day trippers and resident guests. The majority of visitors to the island are transported by Fraser Island Ferries which operates from Riverheads on the mainland to two locations on the island.
As one of Australia’s most unique resort experiences, the opportunity of vacant possession, plus a large amount of surplus freehold development land offers an incoming purchaser significant upside.
