Opened in 2000, the Sunmoon Boutique Resort has been owner operated business since commencement.
Built on 3,035sqm*of prime real estate, the hotel site has a generous 60m* frontage providing excellent exposure to West Coast Highway. The current zoning of Mixed Use Commercial / Residential R160 allows development of some 18 levels (subject to approval).
This zoning renders the existing hotel as an undercapitalisation of the site. An opportunity exists to provide a mix of retail; commercial; short stay or apartments. A further option would include redevelopment of the rear building with a tower of new hotel suites above the carpark and upgrade the hotel facilities in the front building. The Sunmoon Boutique Resort offers a range of accommodation options, with a mix of standard, economy, deluxe and spa rooms. Other features of the hotel include a pool area, gym and conference facilities. The restaurant overlooks a securiy fenced swimming pool.
On 11 May 2016, the State Government announced the allocation of an additional $18 million investment, over its initial pledge of $30 million by Premier Colin Barnett in January 2015, towards transforming Scarborough Beach foreshore into one of Australia’s best beachfronts and tourism hotspots. The State Government and the City of Stirling will collaborate to invest $75.4 million over the next three years. In addition, the City of Stirling will spend $26 million towards the construction of a 50m Scarborough Beach Pool bringing the total spend to $101.4 million.
