This striking hotel was constructed in the late 19th century and ceased operating as a mill in 1978. It later reopened as a hotel in 1984.
The hotel is formed over six floors, with access to the leisure club via a second floor bridge corridor over the village through road.

Location
The Whitewater Hotel and Cascades Leisure Club is located approximately one mile from the southern tip of Lake Windermere and Newby Bridge, and only a short drive from the historic town of Ulverston, most famous for being the birth place of Stan Laurel. The hotel is steeped in history, having previously been a Dolly Blue pigment factory making the world famous “Dolly Blue”.
The property is in the village of Backbarrow on the banks of the River Leven just off the A590, which provides easy access to junction 36 of the M6 motorway which is 15 miles away. The village is host to the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway and the Lakeland Motor Museum.
