The Kingsgate Hotel Wellington comprises a 108 room, 3 star plus Qualmark-rated hotel located on the northern periphery of the Wellington CBD. In addition to guest rooms, the hotel provides restaurant and bar, five conference and meeting rooms, guest laundry, and secure car parking. The hotel was purpose-built in 1988, with refurbishments to the restaurant and bar in 2011 and guest rooms and conferencing facilities in 2013.
The hotel was assessed to be seismic grade C according to a rating of 40% NBS based on a Detailed Seismic Assessment commissioned in 2013.
At the date of sale, the property was operated under a franchise agreement with Millennium & Copthorne Hotels New Zealand under the “Kingsgate” brand. Vacant possession on sale was exercised by the purchaser, who subsequently appointed Rydges as the new operator and the hotel rebranded as the “Thorndon Hotel Wellington by Rydges”.
