The Lindeth Fell Country House in Bowness-on-Windermere, has been sold by the Hotel Agency team at commercial real estate firm Colliers.
The 14-bedroom country house was originally built around 1909, as a privately owned country house by Pattinsons, a prevalent local house builder, with gardens designed by Thomas Mawson, inclusive of a private tarn. Today, the property trades as a 14-bedroom luxury bed and breakfast with characterful public lounges, former 50 cover restaurant, with further accommodation for the owners and extended team.
The period property is positioned on the outskirts of Bowness on Windermere village, benefiting from secluded views towards Lake Windermere and the surrounding countryside. The business is highly recognised, recently winning Guest Accommodation of the Year England from the AA and currently holds AA Five Star grading with a Gold Award.
Previous owners, the Kennedy family acquired the The Lindeth Fell Country House back in 1984 and they have now sold the business to retire. The hotel has been sold to Storrs Hall Limited who will bring Lindeth into what is to become, The Storrs Collection, to maintain and further develop Lindeth as one of the top places to stay in the World Heritage National Park of the Lake District.
Andy Nicholson, general manager at Storrs Collection said: “It is a great honour to become the next custodian of Lindeth Fell, Storrs Collection will endeavour to further develop and embellish what is already a great family run hotel.”
Julian Troup, head of UK hotels at Colliers added: “The unprecedented run of us selling hotels in Cumbria continues, this is the 52nd hotel and hospitality sale Colliers has concluded since the beginning of 2021. Lindeth Fell is another iconic country house sale that is in the heart of the Lake District National Park. This instruction went onto the market in confidential fashion and our endeavours produced a diverse range of interested parties”.
